Me and my group had made a presentation about the Maasai people with Miss Hockly for inquiry.

The Warehouse visit

This morning The Warehouse came to visit us. So in the morning we did a waiata and sang to the warehouse people and then after when we where done doing the waiata we sat down and listen to the people and they had  to amazing prizes that we one, and our first prize was one thousand dollars for our school and we where like wow and we where shock that we actually won one thousand dollars. Your wondering how did we win the thousand dollars well they said we won the thousand dollars from something like plastic bags I dont know but im sure thats what they said. The thing they where talking about was for the past year and months they where helping us with the camp and our chrome books and it was amazing that they well help us with a lot of stuff. The next prize was for Mr Burt,Mr Burt won a reward for the leadership and he all so got a free 500 dollar voucher and he looked pretty happy. Then after it was done and Josephine gave a thank you speech and we sang a song and then we gave t them a clap and said thank you.

Google Expridetion visit

On the 24th of November  a guy name Michael came to our school with these stuff like he said there is a phone in a box which they are called google cardboard and in the google cardboard there is two goggles things in it and you hold the google cardboard like burger and put it to your face and then once u put it on the first thing you will see is paused by teacher and you just wait. So when we waited they explained to us about how the thing works and it sound really cool, it sound really cool because they said that its 4D and there are gonna be pics that are gonna pop up and it looks like you are actually at that place. What is 4D well 4D is a thing that you will get motion everytime it changes because it really amazing and it like comes right at you.

So back to the story Michael said that he can control these things that he can add the pictures off the ipad and there pics like space,skyscraper window washing,the king's house in paris,rock climbing down a really big hole,jungle looking at some insects and reptiles, outside a castle so we took a little adventure and then we were done because the year 8s came back from TC and I was not happy because I had a lot of fun. Man I had a fun time I hope next year they will come and do it again.  

Immersion Assembly

On the first day of term 4 of 2015 we had an Immersion Assembly to talk about our new topic. Our topic for this term is survival. So in immersion assembly Mr Burt was dressed as a survival person with a  fia boko bird on his head, a fia boko is a colorful parrot, so back to the immersion assembly. Well in the holidays every Team has to come up with an idea of a movie or a play that explains what they're doing for this topic for this term which is survival. So some teachers in the holidays came with an idea and act it or showed it in the immersion assembly and my favorite one was team 4.

Mr Goodwin came in front of the stage and said that this term team 4 is learning about animals and their habitats, Then they had a movie that was played and the movie had some lucky kids that got to be in it. My favorite part of the movie is when it was Desman’s scene, It was crack up when he was dancing and saying he was a kangaroo. It made me laugh so good that I wish that he can say some more funny things to make me laugh again.

Another thing that made laugh about Desman’s part of the movie is when he was dancing and the background of the little baby monkey was dancing too and it was funny that I thought that they were dancing like they were dance buddies. That was so Hilarious. That was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time in any immersion assemblies.

What have ive been learning this week

What I have learnt this week is about how to measure angels. Mr Wiseman my maths teacher showed us and told us about how to measure angles and how do you solve is, see what one is the answer. Here is an tip how to solve a angle question, first you have two red lines that will be pointing out wards and you but the bottom one to zero and count in tens till the other arrow will be pointing to the ten and then you count the little ones and see what the ones are and if it like 45 degrees then that's the answer. So what I mean is that the bottom arrow was at zero and the top one was at 40 then I count in ones to add to the 40 and i got 5 so I did 40 + 5=45 so the whole angle is 45 degrees. Thats what I have learnt from Mr Wiseman and from the angles game.

Cyber smart Miss Kyla

Lulu poster

Me and my group where learning about a book called Jelly-Belly. Jelly-Belly  is about a girl name Louisa but she said to them just call her Lulu. She was new to a school and did not know much about it and had no friends. I made a poster that will be imagined in the book to put on the school leader board so people will get to know her.

What have I been doing this week

For this week what I have been learning in literacy class the first one I learnt was a book called the white truck.The book was about a Samoan family living in a small village, There was a little girl and boy name Timu and Moana. They where on a mango tree talking about stuff and eating mango's, so they keep talking about stuff then Timu saw a white truck with palagi people in it. Then they both where watching them get out of the car and saw them went walking in to Moana's house and going to get Moana's sick mum. Her mum had this disease called Lurposy, she was effect with that and got even more sick. Then Moana ran down fast to her mother and said to the palagi people to dont take her mother then the palagi people said that they have to take her oversea's. Then the Moana let her mother go then the people tokk her on the back of the truck and left there village, Moana said to Timu crying that she misses her mum and then they both went in the house and did something to make Moana fell better.



Other thing ive learnt in literacy in writing is how to prevent your self from getting sick. So Room 5 literacy have to write 3 paragraphs of how to prevent your self from getting sick, ive wrote a a whole paragraph of the writing so here is the writing. Keeping warm is another way to prevent yourself from getting sick. I’m gonna write about how to prevent yourself from getting sick so the first  thing to make you prevent yourself from getting sick is keeping warm on cold weathers. So to keep warm in cold weathers is to put on some pants a nice a warm jumper and some socks.

Then when you are sleeping at night try have 2 blankets on and maybe a hot water bottle, and wear some gloves if you have some but if you dont then rub your hands together and it might get warm, for an example it like the samoan thing that they go something like they say me meli meli meli.

Then that's when they rub there hands nice and fast and hard. Thats a example of rubbing your hands together is to do that. That’s one thing to prevent yourself from getting sick is to keep warm.

Room 1 and me where learning about Smart Footprints with Miss Kyla. We where talking about stuff that people can see online and stuff like that. So me and my buddy Tevita made this goggle drawing about what we talked about. hope you enjoy the work we done.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly.

Yesterday on Monday the 20th of july 2015 we had a Immersion Assembly on the first day of term three. Our Topic for this term is Trade & Enterprise, Trade & Enterprise means that the way you Trade,Buy or sell the stuff like an auction how you sell rare stuff or stuff that you think it looks cool for you and then you bet the amount of money you want to spend to win that thing you want from the auction. So this morning at the Immersion Assembly Mr Bert was doing an auction for the kids, the kids have to bet the most to win the prize that Mr Bert is auctioning. There where teachers in costume to do something for the performance for what they're doing for this whole term. At Immersion Assembly each team has to do a preform for the whole school about what they are gonna do about the topic for the whole term.

My favorite team performance out of the whole Immersion assembly was team 4. Thier one was about a boy sometimes have problems when he needs help. He has emotions that help him with the stuff he is having trouble with, His emotions were Extra happy,Calm and Sassy. It was like the movie called inside out, inside out is a movie that a girl has emotions that are in her head. Her emotions were called fear,Anger,disgust,sadness and joy. So back to team 4 performance, They were all of his emotions that helped him with stuff that he had trouble with. It was funny that Sassy was acting like what girls do sometimes when they talk to each other, it was so hilarious he made me laugh really hard. That's why that my team performance because it was funny.

Care Bears Billy Kart.

YAY!! :D we are done with the Billy kart, here is a list how we made it.

1. Hammer and drilled the wood together.

2.Then get some wheels from mitre 10 mega and we bought 4 wheels and two big ones, the big wheels at the back and the small wheels in the front.

3. And then you break a chair and drilled it to the wood.

4.And get the bottom part of the chair and put it in the front of the kart.

5. Then get a rope and put it together with the front wood for out steering wheel.

6 Then last but not least get one little wood for our brake, so every time you are going fast  in the kart you use the brakes to slow down the kart.

We have test the Kart and it go so!! good, the steering is nice and smooth, the seat is nice and convert and the brake works good.

YAY this is Really really cool!! and fun!!! :).

Future Aspirations

Today in the morning we where meeting 3 guys named Marcus Winter (Sand Man),Andrew Patterson (introduce) and Louis Gordon-Latty (basketball player). They where talking about how to live your dreams to make stuff come true that you like to do,like Marcus Winter (Sand Man) he is a artist that makes art out of sand to make it good, that was his dream to do is to become a artist.


Andrew Patterson (introduce) hes a guy that was telling us about stuff that scientist tell stuff that you think that is inpossable ,he was saying that if you struggle your brain will grow bigger, kids thought that when you struggle you struggle. Other stuff he was talking about that he Keep doing what makes you Awesome, and that means that the thing you like you just try to be Awesome at it. There was another thing he was talking about witch its called bounce and bounce back. He said bounce and bounce bake mean's that you get rejected from people and you rejected them back and he said that him,Marcus and Louis keeped getting bounce from asking them that they want to join and they keep getting bounce.

The last guy, name Louis Gordon-latty (basketball player) He was taling his life dream was to become a basketball player. He was training for basketball to get in a basketball team and he went to go as then they keep bouncing him, so he went to another one and he got bounce again,he keeped trying and trying and still got bounce then he ask a guy witch a club called League Glory. He was happy that he did not got bounce and he was happy that he finally got in a team after all of those bounces from other clubs.

Technology

I think Technology is good because you can like make cars to go drive somewhere far or have phones to text or call your family, and the good thing about them is how other kids in collage to learn the Technology so they can make something new with that kind of stuff and Computers are good cause you can play games and do your work things on it and you can go on this website called gmail and you can contact your friends on it.

Technology in WW1

This afternoon our principal Mr Burt was talking about his great grand farther and Miss flavor great grand father was in the first world war in 1914. Mr Burt said that his great grand farther was born before the war, so he was talking that and talking about the Technology that Nazi and the British empire where making like gun's,tanks,planes,boats and big guns that can kill alot of soldiers well the war is on. The things that I just said that they were on the news paper and the Nazis where copying the British empire stuff they where making, they were saying they look cooler and stronger. Thats is why they were having a war cause they where fighting about who has the best weapons,boats and best tank's.

Nesian Fusion Assembly

Today ive learnt was how to spin a Ailao with your hands. My tutor Maori Kava, he was teaching us how to spin the Ailao around your hands and catch it on the other hand. So first we have to hold the Ailao on our right hand or left hand if you are,and you hold the stick down wards with the hand you right with and you spin the Ailao down wards and make it role over your hands by itself when you spin it. Then you keep trying and trying and your get better

Assembely Writing recount

This morning in Assembly when were talking about our new topic called Tinkering Tools & Toys. The first team to start was team 1, there one was about  Healthy Body,Healthy Smile and Healthy Play ground. They were talking about that stuff to do with our body’s and smile and playgrounds, The teachers in team 1 was handing out Healthy food like currants,celery stick and Real luncheon ham,cheese and tomato sauce sandwich. They were so good and Healthy for your body to make you nice and Healthy.

The next team was team 2, there ones were about Weenie and the Pooh. Tigger,Pooh and Weenie were thinking about what and how should they build ehaw new house to live in for the rest of his life. They made him a house out of sticks and build it like a tent but a kind of large size of a stick tent house so he can fit in it. It was nice to see there why of the topic, the next team to do there way of the topic was team 3.

There one was about Minnion’s telling them there is another why to makes things fun in your class, so they made some games that you can do when its a raining day. Miss Walters and Miss Thompson game they did in the class was bowling,instead of pins they used cubex and stacked it like a tower so it looks like its pins. Then Mr Blakely's one was a bunch of boxes stacked on top of each other and all he did was throw a little mini rugby ball it to the boxes to see if who can throw the ball in all of it.

The next Team was Team 4, there one is about the same thing like team 3’s one. It was about playing sensible games when its raining days, it was about that Mr Somerville on his netbook playing games on it, he was playing a fighting game that had some characters in it. He picked the musk a tear one, then he went on a mission to go fight bad people.Then he went to face against a bad guy and killed him, then the next one he got killed by the bad guys by getting hit by a fish, the bad guy sack the fish on his face and fell down to the ground. Then the game said Game Over!.

And the last team was Team 5, it was about ANZAC. Mrs was saying the soldier leader words but she said Team 5 what is the focus question, how could we better, I can’t hear you Team 5 focus question, how could we make it better O O. That was cool that we said O O cause it sounds like that we were the people going to war.

ANZAC

The new thing i've learned on ANZAC  that they have a place called no man’s land, no man’s land is a place that has no men’s on it because there hiding so if any bad people come they kill them, the bad does the same thing if they see people not on there team they kill them. They do that because there are making tunnels to blow their base up,and they make those to sleep there and sleep there until they are ready to battle. The next thing I have learned is that the soldiers fight for us to make our world a better place and to save us from the Nazi cause if they lost to the Nazi our world would be a bad place and it won't be good because Nazi are really bad because hitler is the leader of the Nazi. But it is good that the Nazi lost and that is awesome.

And i've learned that at WW1 that they were eating Gingernuts cookies,Corned beef,Fresh meat and Meat stew. Those are the food they eat at WW1,but those food are yuck when they are cooked,and thats what they have to eat there. But the most thing they all eat was the Gingernuts, Gingernuts where there favorite biscuits to eat at WW1. Thats all i've learnt so far about WW1.

ANZAC Cookies

1 Cup of plain flower.

1 Cup of sugar.

1 Cup of Oats. 

1 Cup of coconut.

Then you put all of the Plain flower,sugar,oats and coconut in one big bowl.

then you mix it around in the bowl.

then you cut half of a block of margarine butter, then put it in a pot and melt it.

after its done then you tip it in the bowl and mix it.

then you add baking soda and hot water and tip it in the bowl and mix it.

then last but not lest add lots of surap in your big bowl and mix it around

Polyfest Writing

On Thursday the 19th of March year 7 & 8 went to a trip to the Polyfest. I was so excited to go because I wanted to see the Maori stage, the Year 7 & 8 went on a bus to the Polyfest, once we got on the bus I was sitting at the back with Nela,Tevita,Sateki,Shitarn and Kahui. We where talking about stuff what boys do, we where singing little einsteins and Nela was doing the beat on the window. It was cool but it was just us singing because everyone else was not singing cause they where shy to sing with us.

Wants we arrive at the Polyfest I was like Yes! we are there. Then the bus went to go park on the side of the road and everyone went of the bus and went to go sit down on the grass as a line and waited until the Polyfest says we can go in. But there was another school there to go Polyfest too, but I didn't know what school they where. Then we all were talking about stuff well we were waiting for the Polyfest people say we can go, 10 mins later they said we can come in but we have to wait in line, once it was my turn they said for me to open my bag, I open my bag and they look in it if we had weapons in our bag. Then after when I got in we have to walk all the way to the ASB people are. Then when we got there they welcome us and the other school to the Polyfest and we were talking about stuff we need to know when we go off with the parent helpers. Then the told us that someone is here and then we were like who is it and they said it is John Key and heaps of the kids from the other school were like Hey! John Key. After when John Key was done talking he went in the ASB tent and went to write a letter for the Polyfest.

.After the we were done we went off as a class, my class went to a game to test how fast you can hit a tennis ball to see how much kilogram per hour. I got 92 and my second hit was 85, after when we were done we went ot go have morning tea while watching college kids say a speech in their language, I enjoyed hearing a speech cause its just cool hearing other people language. Then after we done eating we went off with our parent helpers to go do some stuff. I was with mr Wiseman, first we went off to see these stuff for little kids like little ukulele and little kids toys, I was playing the ukulele cause its nice and toned good then I was playing it. after we went to go to the Maori stage to watch them dance and do the haka. Well we were watching Mr Wiseman went to go buy us some ice blocks, it was nice and cold cause it was Hot!. after that we had to go back and line up with the other class. And we were getting ready to go back to school, I was like awww. Then we went back on the bus and went back to school.

PolyFest

I find interesting at the PolyFest that we where sent to go do some fun things with the ASB people that we where doing this tennis thing that to see how hard you hit the tennis ball, the world record was 243, I got 92. but I came 4th cause some other boys got 124,93 and a girl got 111. but I still had fun,the next activity we went to flava. We where taking  some selfies and the people that where taking a picture with me was Tevita,Sateki and Nalea. We where carrying Sateki in the middle and toke the photo. After that we went to the ASB and went to go write a letter about the PolyFest and when my one was done they put my one on top of John keys one and I was like thank you to the people that put mine on top of John Keys one.

Poly Fest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it! 

I think that young kids are allowed to participate at the poly fest so they can learn there own culture dance.

1. practice there dance.

2.dress in there culture costumes.

3.doing there best at the culture dance.   

They should promote every where so they can bring some people to there stage to watch there item. 

I am looking forward to see the Tongan and cook island doing there dance because that is my two cultures and I have to support them to make them happy,so I can learn the dance to know what my culture does. So when I go to collage I know what dance we have to do so I dont have to be told what to do with our dance. I like Tongan and Cook island dance because Tongan do a stick dance called the tilau and the Cook Island dance.

My goal for this term

My goal for this term is to be on task and doing the right thing well learning in class so I can get better and better at writing,maths and reading. If I can be on task well in class I will get a good report to make my family proud.
